One of our top educational priorities at Center Joint Unified School District is to foster early reading skills in Kindergarten through grade 2. These foundational blocks build strong readers.
We are honoring the work of teachers and students with the Superintendent’s Reading Impact Award. This recognition is for teachers and students who are making the greatest impact on reading, as demonstrated by student growth on iReady assessments. At the conclusion of each iReady assessment period, we identify the kindergarten classroom that made the most progress on phonemic awareness, and the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms that made the most progress on phonics.
Congratulations to
Ms. Julia Meier’s Kindergarten class at Oak Hill Elementary
Ms. Veronica Popvich’s first-grade class at Oak Hill Elementary
Mr. Stephen Kyle’s second-grade class at Spinelli Elementary
Recipients of the Superintendent’s Reading Impact Award receive a teacher certificate, student certificates, a set of classroom library books, and $250 to be used in the classroom.
All classrooms are making great strides and I look forward to awarding the next top 3 recipients with the Superintendent’s Reading Impact Award in April.
