Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) provides funding for no-cost afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.
“Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. In collaboration with community partners, expanded learning programs complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year. Community Partners Include:
- Catalyst Expanded Learning serving Spinelli, North Country, Rex Fortune
- North Highlands Recreation & Park District serving Dudley
- Sunrise Recreation & Park District serving Oak Hill Program Hours & Availability
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) is offered at all five Center Joint Unified School District elementary schools during the regular school year days, select school breaks (October Break and Spring Break), and select June/July summer breaks. School-Year Program Hours
After School: All after-school ELOP programs operate until 6:00 p.m. Program start times vary by school based on each site's dismissal schedule.
TK Students: ELOP schedules are coordinated around each student's AM or PM TK class assignment. Because TK schedules vary by school and classroom, ELOP staff will determine each student's ELOP schedule after TK class assignments have been finalized.
Before-School Programs: Before-school ELOP is available at select elementary schools only. Program hours and availability vary by site.
Specific program schedules and availability will be shared with enrolled families prior to the start of each session.

We encourage you to add your students to the waitlist as soon as possible, but please be aware that placement is not guaranteed and may not be available immediately. We recommend making alternate after-school arrangements while remaining on the waitlist, as openings can occur throughout the school year. Before You Start:
- Students must be officially enrolled with CJUSD for their information to appear in 6Crickets
- Use the same email address or phone number on file with your child’s school
- If your information does not match school records, you may not be able to access the system
- Families will be notified via email if a spot becomes available Please note:
- All students who enroll will initially be placed on a waitlist
- Enrollment does not guarantee a program spot
- A separate registration must be submitted for each student
- Families must select all sessions needed for their student
(Example: If you want summer and after-school care, you must select both sessions)
